Soviet Submarine found in alabama bayou shipyard

How did a Ukrainian submersible end up rotting away in a Alabama bayou shipyard? Apparently an entrepreneur shipped her and her five-man crew from Ukraine after the fall of the Soviet Union then disappeared. The crew was left stranded in Bayou LaBatre until they were ultimately deported. And there it sits–doubt she’ll ever sail again.

It was a bit of a challenge to identify her until I found a commemorative stamp online and matched it to the images I’d taken. That was the final piece of the puzzle – she’s a long-lost “Sever-2”.
